Audi R8 drops its top for 2010

Audi’s R8 supercar will soon be available in a Spyder avatar, which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show.. A high performance RS variant for the R8 is also in the works. The R8 Spyder will not get a targa top, as is quite common with supercars going topless, but it will be a full convertible with a soft-top.

Since the roof and rear pillars are gone, the place of the fuel filler cap has been changed. Other remarkable changes include the missing aluminum blades so well associated with the R8. Additional air intakes have found their way behind the seats, safety rollover bars, and extra chassis strengthening to go with the convertible have also been included. The car will get its power from a 5.2-l V10, that will provide it with 525hp and 391 lb-ft of torque.
