The lavender plant is grown for extraction of lavender oil from the flowers. In the 19th & early 20th century Surrey was the "capital of the lavender world". Hundreds of acres of beautiful blue fields flourished, supplying the global perfume.

The field is managed without the use of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers to encourage biodiversity. As a consequence the field is thriving with a rich variety of flowers and wildlife.
